WARRIORS DUMPED IN OVERTIME IN CHILLIWACK

The Warriors’ frustrations continued on Saturday night, as they lost a double overtime thriller in Chilliwack.

Leading 3-1 after the first period, the Warriors battled hard but got chased down by their division rivals.

With the score tied 4-4 after regulation time, Captain Izaak Berglund even hit the post in overtime.  But in the second OT session, Chiefs defenceman Alexandre Perron-Fontaine converted a Chilliwack break to give the home side the victory.

For the 8th straight game, the Warriors outshot their opponents, only to drop a 9th straight decision.  The final shots on Saturday were 45-34 Westside, with Bryton Udy earning the win and James Leonard suffering the loss.

“I thought they played great tonight” says Leonard of the team in front of him.  “For the most part they kept a lot of the shots to the outside, and in the offensive zone they were just buzzing … as a goaltender you couldn’t ask for much more.”

Malcolm Gould, Alex Perron-Fontaine (2), Derek Huisman, and Spencer Graboski found the back of the net for the Chiefs.  Shawn Hochhausen, Richard Vanderhoek, Travis Blanleil (SH), and Garrett Skrbich tallied for the Tribe.

Veteran defenceman Peter MacIntosh admits his team is rattled by the losing skid, but he says his team is doing a lot of things well.  “It’s really frustrating, but we’ve just to keep working” says the 20 year-old.  “It’s going to come … if we keep working as team.”

The Warriors host Merritt on Wednesday night before a home-and-home series against Trail next weekend.
