WARRIORS BUSTED IN LANGLEY

The Warriors finally scored the first goal of the hockey game, and led 2-0 inside the first minute in Langley on Friday night.

But it wasn’t enough, as the Rivermen fought back to down the Tribe 6-3 at the Langley Events Centre.

The Warriors’ undoing came early in the second period, as they conceded three goals in the span of four minutes, and couldn’t dig out of the hole.

Steve Racine suffered the loss in goal for Westside, stopping 18 of the 24 shots he faced.  The Warriors fired 37 shots at Langley’s James Barr, but could only find 3 goals (two of them on the first two shots of the game).

Chris Tracy and Mike Tebbutt each notched a pair of goals for the home side, while Mario Puskarich and Derek Sutliffe each scored singles. Travis Blanleil, Tyler Krause and Izaak Berglund responded for Westside.

The Warriors have now dropped eight straight hockey games, while outshooting their opponents in the past seven. “I think we all started panicking when we were down. We just need to play the same game … it’s coming” says Richard Vanderhoek of the latest setback, adding “I feel we’re pretty unlucky right now.”

The Tribe will wrap-up their 2-game coastal road-swing when they visit division rival Chilliwack on Saturday night.  “We keep saying this, but we really need this one” says Vanderhoek of the matchup.  “There’s a lot of pressure around here, and the boys are feeling it, but once we get than one [win], we’re going to go.”
