WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors suffer a season sweep at the hands of the Trail Smoke Eaters Monday afternoon by a score of 5-2.

The Warriors got an advantage to kick things off when they found out both Smoke Eaters forwards Max Kryski and Philippe Lapointe stayed home because of illness, forcing the Smoke Eaters to dress 8 blue liners. Holden Kodak got things going for the Warriors after we was able to receive a cross ice pass from Tyler Cristall to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead. The Smoke Eaters would answer back with Matt Osadick collecting a rebound off a Cody Schiavon point shot to even things up at one. Johnny Derrick would finish the period making a couple crucial saves to keep it tied at one.

The second period started with a push from the Warriors who had two power play attempts but this time it was Matteo Paler Chow making a couple goal saving stops. The Smoke Eaters would later go on the attack with Kent Johnson and Mike Colella connecting with Owen Ozar to give the Smoke Eaters their first lead of the game. Johnson would later setup Cody Schiavon on the power play where the slap shot would be directed off the stick of Chase Dafoe and in to give the Smoke Eaters a comfortable 3-1 heading into the third period.

The Warriors would need a comeback in third and they got it started with a powerplay goal from Brendan Pigeon to make it 3-2 Smoke Eaters. The Warriors would turn the puck over with Diarmad DiMurro keeping the puck inside the attacking zone finding Kent Johnson on the left side. Johnson would deliver a short pass up the middle to Owen Ozar who beat Johnny Derrick to restore the two goal lead for the Smoke Eaters. The Warriors would go on another power play with under 10 minutes to go trying to make it interesting. Once the penalty expired, Smoke Eaters goaltender Matteo Paler Chow would clear the puck to Jayden Senkoe fresh out of the box and he would fire a shot on the blocker side of Derrick sealing it with the Smoke Eaters fifth goal of the game making it a 5-2 final.

Final shots on goal: 41-33 in favor of the Smoke Eaters.
