The Warriors are coming off another loss last Saturday to the Vernon Vipers. It was a 4-2 victory for the Vipers who were the better team. Warriors got off to an early 1-0 lead but the Vipers took over the game with 4 goals in the second half of the game. It was a similar game versus the Salmon Arm Silverbacks last Wednesday where the Warriors didn’t match the intensity and effort of their opponent. One positive note from last Saturday’s game was John Evans. Evans was able to score his 5th shorthanded goal of the season putting him in the league lead in shorthanded goals.

This afternoon the Warriors conclude their season series with the Trail Smoke Eaters. The Smoke Eaters will no longer look at the Warriors as a first round matchup with the Spruce Kings solidifying the 7th seed in the Interior Division. This doesn’t mean the Warriors have nothing to play for, they want vengeance after the Smoke Eaters stole one a couple weeks ago. The Warriors had a 4-2 lead in the third until Kent Johnson and Philippe Lapointe combined to score a trio of goals giving the Smoke Eaters a 5-4 victory. The Warriors haven’t forgotten about that loss. In order for the Warriors to get the closure they need and avoid a series sweep, they must neutralize Kent Johnson. Johnson has been able to tally 19 points in 5 games versus the Warriors this season.

This evening’s game will be broadcast on both HockeyTV and the Warriors Mixlr Network. Puck drop at 2:30pm from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. For tickets to any upcoming home game visit tickets.westkelownawarriors.ca for details and packages.
