Vernon, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks extend their winning streak to 3 after a 5-3 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors Sunday evening.

The first period was dominated by the Silverbacks in almost every category but it was the Warriors who found a way to draw first blood. Billy Sowa fired an outlet pass to Zach Brooks who made a great move to get around the defender one on one and place a wrist shot past Silverbacks goaltender Owen Say to make it 1-0 Warriors. Late in the first period with seconds remaining the Warriors would cough up the puck at the blue line allowing Sullivan Mack to go all alone scoring his 4th of the Pod season to tie it up at one heading into the dressing room.

In the second, The Warriors were able to maintain puck possession but a costly unsportsmanlike penalty by Zach Brooks led to Simon Tassy scoring his 2nd of the Pod Season off a Silverbacks powerplay making it 2-1. Minutes later the Warriors would go on the man advantage where Marcus Joughin would fire a shot off Silverbacks goaltender Owen Say and the rebound would hit Ben Woodhouse and in to tie it up at 2. Seconds later the Silverbacks Lucas Matta would wire a shot past Zach Bennett to regain the lead for the Silverbacks making it 3-2 heading into period number three.

Controversy kicked off the third period. Only 20 seconds into the period the Silverbacks would go offside and score a goal. Without proper video review inside Kal Tire Place, the goal for the Silverbacks would stand forcing the Warriors to climb an even bigger hill for the remainder of the game. With six minutes to go the Warriors would get a scare with Aiden Lindblad hitting Carter Wilkie with a knee on knee putting the Warriors on the power play for 5 minutes. Wilkie would head to the dressing room but later return for the tail end of the powerplay. Tyler Cristall would score a late goal for the Warriors but it wouldn’t be enough as Simon Tassy scored his 2nd of the game to give the Silverbacks a 5-3 victory.
