WARRIORS NAME NEW CAPTAIN

The West Kelowna Warriors are pleased to announce #21 Matt Anholt as their new Captain for the 2013-14 BCHL Season.

The ’94 born native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan will be entering his second season with the Warriors.  Last year Matt produced 9 goals, and 22 assists, in 51 games.  He was also the Co-Rookie of the Year for the Warriors.

“It’s a real honour to be named the Captain of the Warriors,” says Anholt.  “Especially following in the footsteps of Max French is something special.  I feel like we’re going to have a real strong team again next year, with a great group of returning players.  I would like to thank Rylan, and the entire Warriors organization, for giving me this opportunity.”

In the playoffs this past year Anholt tallied 3 goals, and 4 assists, in 10 games.

"Matt will be a great person to lead the team,” says Warriors Head Coach/GM Rylan Ferster.  “He demonstrated a lot of leader type qualities this past year.  Also, being around the very good leadership group we had this past season will be helpful.  Matt is a team first guy that shows up every night."

Ferster added the Matt was a good leader while playing for the Prince Albert Mintos in Midget, and saw leadership qualities from his very first interview with Matt.

Matt will be joined by three former Mintos in the upcoming year on the Warriors roster: Kylar Hope, Adam Osczevski, and Tanner Bugrardt.

He, and his teammates, will arrive mid-August for the start of Main Camp on Friday, August 23rd, 2013.

Assistant Captains will be named after Camp.
