WARRIORS MAKE NOISE AT DEADLINE

The Westside Warriors made a push to get younger on Tuesday, as they dealt some veteran players out of province.

A blockbuster deal sees Captain Izaak Berglund, along with Michael King, heading to the AJHL’s Lloydminster Bobcats in exchange for future considerations.

The veterans were moved to a Bobcats squad looking to beef up its blue line in advance of the AJHL playoffs.

The Warriors, conversely, are looking to get younger as they begin to build for next season.

On Monday, the Warriors dealt defenceman Klay Kachur (91) to Battlefords in the SJHL for 1993-born defenceman Curtis Toneff.

“We certainly want to thank Izaak, Michael, and Klay for their contributions to our hockey club” says Westside Coach/GM Rylan Ferster.  “They’re all great individuals and great hockey players, and we wish them all the best.”

The Tribe also bolstered their back end, by picking up (93) defenceman Mathew Berry-Lamontagna, who had just been released by the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders.

Having dealt their captain, Westside will announce a new captain on Wednesday.
