Warriors Dominate Spruce Kings at Home
Vince Mihalek scored twice as the Westside Warriors blasted the Prince George Spruce Kings 7-1 in Westside on Friday night. The Warriors scored three times in both of the first two periods and coasted to its 19th win of the season, improving its record to 19-13-0-3.
?Our guys really came to play tonight,? said Warriors assistant coach Misko Antisin. ?We were physical and we dominated in the corners. It was a real good effort.? The win snapped a three game losing skid by the Warriors.
Westside jumped out early with a power play marker by Trevor Bailey, whose long wrist shot through traffic opened the scoring. Justin Schultz scored his eighth and Quinn Gould added his first as a Warrior to make it 3-0 after the first. It was Gould?s second game after being acquired from Sherwood Park in the Alberta Junior Hockey LePage last weekend.
Westside added to the lead with two goals in 31 seconds in the second period as Mihalek scored his first and Alex Grieve scored in the first two minutes of the frame. Matt Betker added a power play goal to make the score 6-0 before the Spruce Kings got on the board with a power play marker by Sam Muchalla that made the score 6-1 after two periods of play. Mihalek had the lone goal of the third. Westside now takes on Penticton on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Royal LePage Place.
