TRIBE TOP SPRUCE KINGS

The Warrors got a goal from each of their top three lines and held their hosts to just 24 shots, as they earned a hard-fought victory in Prince George on Saturday night.

Max French staked Westside a lead 8:30 into the second period, and Richard Vanderhoek’s tally 64 seconds later would prove to be the winner as the Tribe beat the Spruce Kings 3-2.

Brett McKinnon also found the back of the net for Westside, while Michael Colantone and Jujhar Khaira responded for Prince George.

Dwayne Rodrigue’s clutch glove save on Khaira late in the game preserved the win for Westside, while Kirk Thompson stopped 25 shots in a losing cause for the Spruce Kings.

“I thought we played well” says Westside Alternate Captain Max French of his team’s performance.  “Defensively and offensively, I thought we were going hard out there.”

French also felt his team is starting to get back to what made it successful early in the season.  “We’ve still got a bit to go” he says, “but I think we’re making the right steps to getting back there.”

Westside will look to sweep the 2-game set in Prince George as the two teams resume hostilities on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
