FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 25th, 2021

WEST KELOWNA B.C. –  The West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club have acquired forward Chase Dafoe (‘02) from the Blackfalds Bulldogs (AJHL) in exchange for forward Zach Brooks (’01).

Zach Brooks played the 20/21 season with the Warriors after being acquired from the Cowichan Capitals. The Warriors would like to thank Zach for his hard work while in West Kelowna.

Chase Dafoe, played 2 seasons with the Trail Smoke Eaters (BCHL) before being traded to the Blackfalds Bulldogs this Summer. Warriors General Manager & Head Coach Simon Ferguson stated, “Chase plays a hard physical game and has a high hockey IQ. He has good scoring touch around the net and be a leader on and off the ice.”

The 6’3, 185 pound forward was named Captain of the Smoke Eaters last season and is looking forward to playing more hockey close to home. “I’m very excited to be joining the Warriors, it will be special putting on that jersey for the first time,” stated Dafoe. “I remember going to Warriors games as a kid so it will definitely be a cool moment stepping on the ice for the first game playing for the team I grew up watching. Being the Captain in Trail last year was an amazing experience. I learned lots of qualities that make a great Captain that I’ll carry over to West Kelowna this season. Warriors fans can expect to see a player who brings it every night, likes to make plays and doesn’t mind mixing it up and standing up for my teammates.”

Although Chase was born in Beverly, MA, he was raised in Kelowna and his family has recently relocated to Peachland. The Warriors would like to welcome Chase and his family to the City of West Kelowna and the Warriors organization.
