WEST KELOWNA B.C.. – The West Kelowna Warriors extend their winning streak to 7 games after a tight 5-4 victory over the Powell River Kings.

1st Period: The first period started great for the Warriors with Brandon Dent scoring his first BCHL goal on a breakaway to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. The Warriors would have a total of 4 power play opportunities but couldn’t put the puck past former Warrior Hayden Missler. Just after the midway mark of the period it was Powell River’s turn on the man advantage. After a scrum behind the net Ryan Brushett was able to receive a Levi Glasman feed with no one around him, putting the puck past Brock Baier tying the game at one. Shots on goal after one, 11-6 Warriors

2nd Period: The Warriors played their best second period of the season getting production from everyone. First Tyler Pang was able to put a soft shot passed everybody including Kings goaltender Hayden Missler to get the go ahead goal. Only a couple minutes later the Warriors would keep pressing and after a barrage of chances in front of the Kings net, Eric Olson was able to cash in on a Mike Hardman pass giving the Warriors a 3-1 lead. Only 3 minutes later the Warriors would connect again with Chase Dubois one timing a great feed from Matt Kowalski and the lead was extended to three going into the dressing room. Shots on goal in the second, 15-4 Warriors.

3rd Period: The third period the Warriors were caught sleeping. Powell River Kings came out flying scoring a pair of goals. First it was Ryan Brushett with his second of the night off a Ben Wozney pass and then Neal Samanski got the Kings within one goal 10 minutes to go in the period. Turning point of the game has to be the Warriors bouncing back, the Kings drew a penalty with 9 minutes to go and full momentum, but Bennett Norlin had other plans scoring a short handed goal on the breakaway giving the Warriors the insurance they needed to pick up their seventh victory in a row. The Kings would add one more late in the period but it wasn’t enough, West Kelowna end the weekend with a tight 5-4 victory. Shots on goal 35-23 for the Warriors.
