PENTICTON B.C.. – The West Kelowna Warriors pick up another massive victory tonight over the Penticton Vees, this time in the South Okanagan Events Centre.

1st Period: The Warriors made sure they stuck to their plan to outshoot opponents and get on the board early. The Vees decided that was their game plan early on drawing first blood thanks to Brendan Harrogate scoring his 7th of the season giving the Vees the 1-0 lead. The Warriors would spend the next 10 minutes in the Vees zone but were unable to get any pucks past Vees goaltender Jack LaFontaine. After a failed power play the Warriors would allow another goal courtesy of 16 year old Cole Shepard. Shots on goal after one period. 10-9 for the Vees.

2nd Period: The Warriors started the first period with a bang. A defensive zone faceoff lead to Chase Dubois finding a streaking Lucas Cullen who undressed Jack LaFonatine to get the Warriors within one. Later on in the period the line of Parm Dhaliwal, Lucas Cullen, and Chase Dubois connect again, this time on the powerplay. Chase Dubois with a slap pass from the point allowed Parm Dhaliwal to one time pass the puck to Lucas Cullen who put it past Jack LaFontaine for his second of the night tying the game up at two to end the second period. Shots on goal after two periods, 21-18 in favor of the Vees.

3rd Period: The third period didn’t start well for the Warriors, a very unlucky bounce of a stanchion gave Vees forward Cassidy Bowes an empty net opportunity to give the Vees the lead only 3 minutes into the final frame.  Brock Baier went to play the puck behind his net and one bounce off the blue hump of the glass led to a favorable Vees bounce giving them a 3-2 lead. The Warriors would answer back 5 minutes later with the top line pouncing. Chase Dubois and Lucas Cullen came into the Vees end with speed firing a shot on that was deflected by a Vees defender and landed right to the stick of Parm Dhaliwal who wired the puck past Jack LaFontaine noting the score at 3. The final 10 minutes of the third it was all Warriors. A couple neutral zone turnovers from the Vees lead to Eric Olson collecting the loose puck finding Bennett Norlin who beat Jack LaFontaine on a breakaway giving the Warriors their first lead of the hockey game. With the Warriors holding on to a one goal lead late, it was gut check time for Geoff Grimwood’s squad. After a Vees timeout, it was six on five u=in the final minute of play and after some key blocked shots by Mike Hardman and Max Bulawka, Willie Reim picked up the puck finding newcomer Eric Olson who was able to throw the puck into the empty net sealing it for the West Kelowna Warriors who pick up a 5-3 victory on the road. Shots on goal 31-28 in favor of the Vees.
