Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks utilized their full roster Saturday night to defeat the Warriors 4-2 Saturday night.

The Warriors came out flying with a goal early on from Charles Alexis Legault. The connection of Tyler Cristall and John Evans was reunited for the first time in 11 months as the two created a play to find Legault all alone for a tip goal in the slot to make it 1-0. Later on the Silverbacks would score a pair of goals off Warriors turnovers in their own zone. One goal from Simon Tassy, the other from Mat Bourgault to give the Silverbacks a 2-1 lead after one.

The second period is where the fists flew. After the Silverbacks added another goal from Daniel Panetta the Warriors needed some energy. Riley Sharun would collect a puck in the neutral zone and would get hit from behind in an ugly position. Sharun would be ok, but thats when the Warriors forward Alexi Van-Houtte Cachero would defend his linemate by dropping the gloves with Lucas Matta. After numerous scrums and the fighting major the game had a 15 minute delay to sort everything out. After the delay the officials ejected Alexi Van Houtte Cachero and Carter Schmidt from the Warriors and Lucas Matta and Aiden Lindblad for the Silverbacks. However Schmidt and Lindblad were not on the ice during the scrum. The Silverbacks would be the club with the lone powerplay in what was one of the strangest series of events you’ll ever see.

The Silverbacks would add one goal late in period three with Mat Bourgault scoring his 2nd of the game to provide a three goal cushion with only 2 minutes remaining. For the Warriors, Ty Rubin would go coast to coast and fire a wrist shot past the five hole of Owen Say to cut the Silverbacks lead to two with seconds remaining.

The Warriors head back home and face the Prince George Spruce Kings Tuesday night. That game will take place at 7:00pm. General admission tickets are only $10. Fans can catch the action on  BCHLTV (formally HockeyTV) or on the free internet radio stream on Mixlr.
