WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The Victoria Grizzlies come right back to defeat the Warriors 3-2 in overtime Sunday afternoon in West Kelowna.

The Warriors controlled play for the majority of the first period firing numerous shots on Grizzlies goaltender Joe Howe who was in for his 3rd game in as many days. With under three minutes to go in the first the Warriors would draw first blood with a Max Bulawka steal leading to Brandon Dent going hard to the net. Grizzlies goaltender Joe Howe would stop Brandon Dent but give up a juicy rebound for Levi Stauber who scored to make it 1-0 Warriors.

Warriors were quick to pounce again in the second frame with John Evans receiving a Brendan Pigeon pass wristing his second in as many games to extend the lead to two. The Grizzlies would add one from Henri Schreifels who tapped the puck into the empty net while Brock Baier was on his back during a scrum. Baier would lobby for goaltender interference to no avail.

Early in the third period the Warriors had their chances but couldn’t find a way to restore the two goal lead. Minutes later the Grizzlies would go on the power play and with only 6 seconds left in the man advantage Marty Westhaver would beat Brock Baier to tie the game up at two sending it to overtime. The Warriors would finish the third and start overtime on the power play but couldn’t cash in leading to the Grizzlies once again finding momentum. With under 3 minutes remaining in the extra frame the Warriors would lose the puck in the attacking zone giving Grizzlies Captain Marty Westhaver the ability to skate past the Warriors defenders and fire a shot through the five hole of Brock Baier giving the Grizzlies a 3-2 victory. Shots on goal 41-23 Warriors.
