West Kelowna, B.C. –  The West Kelowna Warriors will wear their Westside Grizzlies Retro sweaters when they host the Penticton Vees Wednesday night.

The Warriors are coming off their biggest win of the season defeating the Penticton Vees 5-2 heading into the Christmas break. It was a game the Warriors matched the Vees intensity and took full advantage of the Vees in the second and third periods allowing the Warriors to skate off with the victory.

Head Coach and General Manager Simon Ferguson was pleased with his clubs compete level, “We blocked shots, we outworked them(The Vees). We spent a lot of time on special teams and our compete and I think the guys have set the level for themselves and there’s no backing down”.

Wednesday December 29th VS Penticton Vees (19-3-0-1): 7:00pm  (Season series tied at 1-1)

Tonight the Warriors host the Vees in their second of 4 straight meetings. Both clubs will be well rested returning from the Christmas break. There is no update on whether Warriors forward Nick Roukounakis will be returning to the lineup Wednesday evening or perhaps later in the weekend but one face will be making his return and that’s Riley Sharun. Sharun has missed the past 4 games with suspension and is itching to get back in the lineup. The West Kelowna native is one of the more physical players on the roster and is needed against a big team like the Vees. On the other side of the puck are the Vees who are struggling to stay healthy between the pipes. Last time these two clubs faced off both Kaeden Lane and Colin Purcell were out with injury forcing former Tri City American Mason Dunsford to start. Earlier this week the Vees signed former Prince Albert Raider Carter Serhyenko, which might indicate Lane and Purcell could be out longterm. The Vees and Warriors have each traded 3 goal victories in their season series with one teams standing tall by a large margin. The Warriors need to expect a significant push back from the Vees this time around.

Puck drop for Wednesday’s game is 7:00pm from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. Tickets are available at WestKelownaWarriors.ca. The game will also be broadcast live on HockeyTV, the BCHLWarriors Mixlr feed & the Shaw Spotlight channel.
