NEWS: Shane Farkas Named BCHL’s Player of the Week

The West Kelowna Warriors are proud to announce that goaltender Shane Farkas is the BCHL’s Player of the Week, the league announced Monday night.

Farkas, 17, has been outstanding for the Warriors over the month of December, posting five straight wins and came up with two of those victories over the past weekend against the Island Division’s Powell River Kings and Nanaimo Clippers.

The Penticton, BC native made 35 saves on 36 shots in Friday night’s 6-1 victory over the Kings before making 41 saves on 42 shots in an impressive 2-1 win on Saturday against the Clippers to give the Warriors four straight wins to head into the Christmas break.

“Shane has played a big role for our team this season,” stated Warriors head coach Rylan Ferster, “To have the types of performances Shane has had and being just 17 years old, it’s a much deserving honour for him.”

The Warriors (17-16-0-1) return from the Christmas break with a home-and-home set against the Trail Smoke Eaters (16-17-0-3). Puck drop is 7:00 PM Thursday, December 30th at Royal LePage Place with tickets available for purchase at the Warriors office or by calling (250) 769-7051.
