GAME PREVIEW: Warriors Back On Home Ice For First Time In February To Host Silverbacks

The West Kelowna Warriors (24-9-7-0) are back on home ice for the first time in 19 days as they take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (25-12-0-2) at Royal LePage Place on Friday night.

Looking Back:

West Kelowna enters play on Friday night following the conclusion of their four-game stretch away from home where they suffered a 6-4 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday night at Cominco Arena. Jack Pridham, Felix Caron, Michael Salandra and Johannes Løkkeberg each found the back of the net while Matthew DellaRusso turned aside 24 of the 29 shots thrown his way in his 2nd loss of the season.

The Silverbacks make their way into the weekend following a 5-2 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings last Friday night at the Shaw Centre. Isaac Lambert netted a hat-trick in the game while Nathan Mackie and Nathaniel Davis added singles in the victory. Eli Pulver made 25 saves on 27 shots to earn his 16th win of the season.

  • Rorke Applebee – Goaltender – Chateauguay, Quebec – Lake Superior State University

Ranking 6th in the league in goals against average at 2.52 on the season, Applebee continues to play strongly in the Warriors crease. The Lake Superior State commit has played the 3rd most minutes in the league at 1665 with some of his best coming against Salmon Arm where the 20-year-old has posted a 4-1 record along with a 2.05 GAA and a .931 save percentage with a shutout this season while playing the Silverbacks.

  • Michael Salandra – Forward – Pleasantville, New York – Quinnipiac University

The veteran Warriors forward has had the most success this season against the Silverbacks with a goal and six assists for seven points in the five-game season set thus far. The Quinnipiac University commit post two goals and two assists for four points in four games against Salmon Arm last season and added his 19th goal of the season on Saturday night in Trail.

Salmon Arm:

  • Casy Laylin – Forward – St. Michael, Minnesota – University of St. Thomas

Despite only having points in two of his last nine games, Laylin made the most of those two games and has been solid against the Warriors this season. The St. Michael, Minnesota native posted a hat-trick as part of a five-point effort against the Cowichan Valley Capitals while he has collected a goal and five points in five games against West Kelowna this season.

  • Isaac Lambert – Forward – Victoriaville, Quebec – University of Maine

Earning his third hat-trick of the season on Friday night against Prince George, and his second in five games, Lambert has been the hottest of Silverback players entering the weekend. The University of Maine commit has registered 7 goals and 3 assists for 10 points during a five-game point streak.

The Warriors and Silverbacks meet for the sixth and final time in the regular season on Friday night at Royal LePage Place. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available for purchase online on the Warriors website as well as in-person at the Box Office, which opens one hour ahead of puck drop.
