DUNCAN, B.C. – The Warriors slow start leads to their seventh straight loss at the hands of the Cowichan Valley Capitals Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors got off to a quick start in the hockey game out playing the Capitals early, but couldn’t solve Capitals goaltender Ben Howard who made a couple clutch stops. The Capitals number five power play in the BCHL would then go to work and cash in with a Matthew Crasa goal to make it 1-0. Then late in the period after the Warriors killed another Caps power play Matthew Crasa was able to hold the puck in the West Kelowna end and find defenseman Cullen Ferguson open who made no mistake. Just like that the Capitals lead was extended to 2-0 heading into the dressing room.

The Warriors started the second frame on the power play but couldn’t cash in past goaltender Ben Howard. The Capitals would get momentum for the next 8 minutes scoring a pair of goals. First it was former Victoria Royals forward Tanner Sidaway scoring off a Warriors turnover to make it 3-0, then the Capitals would go to work on the power play allowing Luc Wilson to score his 11th of the season making it 4-0. The Warriors would go on the power play late and would end the shutout for Ben Howard after Nick Ardanaz fired a shot from the point which would off the stick of Brendan Pigeon cutting the lead to 4-1 heading into the dressing room.

With the momentum on their side the Warriors pushed hard in the final frame leading to Max Bulawka’s 6th of the season to cut the lead in half. The Warriors would continue to pressure in the Capitals zone and draw a penalty. It was the chance the Warriors needed in the third. Down two goals with more than half the period left, but they couldn’t cash in. Minutes later Tanner Sidaway would score his second of the game to make it 5-2 Capitals. The Caps would add one more late to make it 6-2.

Final shots on goal: 34-30 in favor of the Kings.
