WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The Warriors look to bounce back after suffering a 4-2 loss to the Vernon Vipers Friday night.

The Warriors opened the 2019-2020 regular season losing more than just a game. Late in the game Vernon Vipers forward Logan Cash would hit Warriors Captain Jake Harrison unsuspected leading to Harrison exiting the game with an injury. The Vipers would later control the remainder of the game adding a pair of goals to pick up the 4-2 victory. Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Brandon West knows that stage in the game changed everything, “I thought we played a pretty good 60 minutes, in the end they got an opportunity and they took it.” Warriors fans were treated to another fantastic goaltending performance from Brock Baier who stopped 36 of 39 shots on goal in the loss. Baier is expected to get the start Saturday night against the Wild.
Tonight the Warriors are more than likely without a couple key leaders. First it’s Parm Dhaliwal who is out indefinitely for this weekends games and then Jake Harrison who will be evaluated later on today. That leaves Lucas Cullen as the only member of the leadership trio suiting up Saturday night. Usually this is a problem that BCHL clubs have to deal with midway through the season, and it’s something Coach West has to get around, “If we’re missing guys out of our lineup it’s a new opportunity for others”. The Warriors will face the club that eliminated them in game 7 of the first round last season, the Wenatchee Wild. The Wild will be utilizing yet again a much different looking roster from last season with only 4 returning players and only one of them is a forward. They made a couple trades over the off season picking up goaltender Daniel Chenard from the Chilliwack Chiefs and Dallas Farrell from the Coquitlam Express to provide leadership and experience. The Wild were able to knock down the Merritt Centennials Friday night by a score of 3-1. There’s no letting what kind of team Bliss Littler will send out Saturday night, but he is always prepared. For the Warriors they need to not only capitalize on their chances but provide more opportunities on the man advantage which didn’t look great without Parm Dhaliwal quarterbacking the powerplay.
