Warriors Sweep Silverbacks In Two Game Set

The West Kelowna Warriors completed the two game sweep of the Silverbacks with a 4-3 win on Saturday night in Salmon Arm.

The game got off to a physical start with both teams laying the body and felt like a regular season back to back with the early rough stuff. It all boiled over, to a degree, when Tyler Anderson and Ryley Booth dropped the gloves after a hard hit in the Warriors end. Anderson was assessed a 5-minute major for fighting and a game misconduct while Booth stayed in the game, receiving a 4-minute double minor roughing penalty.

West Kelowna would open the scoring at the 13:06 mark of the 1st period after Chase Dubois stuck with a rolling puck and was able to find the back of the net on a backhand to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead, where the score would hold for the remainder of the frame.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the 4:26 mark of the 2nd frame on a perfectly placed shot from Matt Monk that found it’s way in through bodies with the lone assist being handed out to Chase Dubois.

West-K would take a 3-0 lead just two minutes later on another shot getting in through traffic. Bryon Moradshadi’s initial shot was tipped off a Silverback and into the back of cage with assists going to Mitch Martan and Quin Foreman.

The ‘Backs got themselves into the game with a goal from Jared Turcotte at the 1:08 of the 3rd period followed by a goal from Justin Wilson to make it a one goal game.

West Kelowna would take their two goal lead back on a power play goal from Mitch Martan, who just slid the puck under an unsuspecting Michael Botiz for a 4-2 lead.

Salmon Arm got a late goal from Cameron Trott but it was too little, too late as the Warriors came away with the 4-3 victory and the two game sweep of the set with the Silverbacks.

The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, August 31st when they take on the Penticton Vees at Royal LePage Place. Tickets are just $5 for the Warriors fourth pre season game. For fans that can’t make it to the rink, the game will be streamed live on FASTHockey or listen for free on the Warriors Internet Network.
