West Kelowna, B.C. –  The West Kelowna Warriors head back on the road for a two game set in Salmon Arm Friday night.

The Warriors are coming off their 7th straight victory last Saturday night. It was a game where the Warriors started and finished well defeating the Vernon Vipers 5-1. Both Tyler Cristall and Felix Trudeau extended their goal scoring streaks and the Warriors continued to improve their play on the man advantage scoring their 13th power play goal of the season. During this winning streak the Warriors power play went from league worst to 7th and they don’t appear to be slowing down. Another shining light was Warriors forward Damon Juganuth who scored his first two goals of the season last Saturday. Warriors Assistant Coach Ayrton Nikkel stated it was only a matter of time before Damon got on the scoresheet, “It isn’t easy trying to keep up to those two (Trudeau and Bar Lev Wise), he’s doing a very good job keeping up with them, receiving passes, giving passes and keeping up with that high hockey IQ. Let’s hope he can keep it up this weekend“.

Players to Watch this Week

#7 Felix Trudeau – 6 Game goal scoring streak

#20 Tyler Cristall – 7 game goal scoring streak

Friday November 19th VS Salmon Arm Silverbacks (10-2-1): 7:00pm

Saturday November 20th VS Salmon Arm Silverbacks (10-2-1): 6:00pm

Tonight the Warriors face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, a club that was sitting in the number one spot in the BCHL standings until last weekend. The Silverbacks suffered a couple tough losses to the Cranbrook Bucks last weekend but have recently bounced back after a 4-2 victory over the Vernon Vipers Wednesday night. The Silverbacks are strong on special teams as well with the #1 penalty kill in the league and the #4 powerplay in the BCHL. Other strength this Silverbacks rink. The Warriors have been unable to defeat the Silverbacks in Salmon Arm during regular season play since February 15th, 2017. It’s been a ten game losing streak for the Warriors inside the Shaw Centre which they are hoping to snap this weekend.

Warriors Assistant Coach Ayrton Nikkel just wants his team to keep their play simple and be cautious against this very good Salmon Arm Silverbacks team, “We need to focus on ourselves, we know what we’re getting into in that venue, the speed and skill they have is elite and they also have good goaltending. So focus on ourselves, play the right way and we should be able to win a couple up there.”

Puck drop for Friday’s game is 7:00pm and puck drop for Saturdays game is 6:00pm from the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm. The games will also be broadcast live on HockeyTV and  the BCHLWarriors Mixlr feed.
