Warriors Sweep Road Trip

The West Kelowna Warriors used a 4-goal second period to sweep a weekend road trip with a 6-3 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Sunday evening, picking up their 30th win of the season.

Garrett Forster had a pair of goals in the win, while Jonathan Desbiens added a goal and an assist in the middle frame.

The game was tied at 1 in the second when Kylar Hope potted a goal into an open net from the side of the goal.

Moments later, it was Desbiens who went around the goal and then had all the time in the world to bury the wrap-around. It was Desbiens sixth goal in four games.

Connor Sodergren did a great job on the forecheck with a loose puck in front, lifting a defenders stick for Forster to bury his second of the night to end the second period scoring.

The Chiefs Linden Hora got Chilliwack within two, before Desbiens went in on a two on one with Forster, and fed him just over the line for Forster to bury it into a mostly open net while the teams played four on four.

Brett Mennear nailed an empty netter from inside his own blue line to make it 6-2. The Chiefs added a late power-play goal to make it 6-3.

The Warriors will have just two days off before playing three games over four days, all on the road. They visit Coquitlam on Wednesday, before heading to Trail for a two-game weekend double-header.
