Warriors Set to Open Playoffs Against Trail

Warriors set to open playoffs against Trail

The Westside Warriors will begin the B.C. Hockey League playoffs this Friday and Saturday nights when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters in games one and two of the BCHL first round playoffs.

The games will take place at Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna and will feature a red hot Warriors club that has only lost five games since Christmas.

The Warriors enter the BCHL playoffs after an outstanding regular season, finishing in third place in the Interior Conference with a 37-18-1-4. The club?s 79 points was the fifth best total in the entire 16 team BCHL.

?I?m confident that we can do some damage in the playoffs,? said Warriors coach/GM Mark Howell. ?We have proven that we can compete with any team in the conference.?

The Warriors are urging fans to come out and pack Royal LePage Place to help cheer the Warriors on and act as the seventh man in the playoffs.

Warriors captain Ron Kelly says it makes a big difference to the players when the crowds are energized, much like the atmosphere in last year?s playoffs.

?We all get pumped up when the building is full and loud,? said Kelly, 20. ?Our fans are awesome and there is nothing better than hearing them cheer us on.?

Make sure to get to the rink early for game #1 as the first 700 fans into Royal LePage Place will receive a free playoff towel courtesy of Stutter Disaster Kleenup.  There are still tickets available for the home games and fans can get them through www.selectyourtickets.com or by calling the Warriors office at 250-769-7051.
