Warriors not blowing any Smoke against Trail

Things came in threes for the Westside Warriors at Royal LePage Place on Saturday night, as they doused the Trail Smoke Eaters 5-3.  Looking for their third win in as many nights, the Warriors set themselves up for the win with three unanswered goals in the first period before the Trail Smoke Eaters offence could even get started.

Kyle Singleton, Ron Kelly and Cory Pritz notched consecutive goals in the opening 10 minutes, Singleton nabbing an assist on Kelly?s contribution, while Kelly added one of his own on Pritz? goal.
The Warriors were facing their second tough opponent in a row in second-place Trail, who were sporting the best visiting power play in the BCHL.
With the Warriors owning the second-best penalty kill record at home, it had all the makings of a special-teams battle. Instead the only goal that wasn?t even strength was Trail?s second of two coming in the middle frame ? a nice shorthanded effort from Chad Gehon courtesy of a Patrick Martin pass on a two-on-one.

Trail?s Riley Loyst stunned the Warriors only 20 seconds into the second with an unassisted goal, and Gehon?s marker showed how flat the Warriors were after the first intermission.
