WARRIORS DROP A SECOND SHOWCASE HEARTBREAKER

The Warriors are a gloomy group after a second setback to start the regular season.
A night after Surrey netminder Victor Adamo made 40 saves to shutout the Warriors, West Kelowna again outplayed an opponent, only to lose.
On Saturday, the Warriors outshot Nanaimo 48-16, but fell 6-5.
Clippers netminder Jayson Argue was a big part of West Kelowna’s struggles.  The veteran goalie allowed five goals, but made a handful of remarkable rebound saves and also ensured the Warriors could only score once on eight powerplay opportunities.
Rookie forward Jordan Masters scored two of West Kelowna’s goals (his first two BCHL tallies).  Masters also added two assists, though he knows the powerplay struggles cost his club.
“I think this week we definitely need to work on our powerplay” Masters admits, adding  “we definitely have to be better than that next weekend”
Matt Anholt, David Pope, and Liam Blackburn also scored for West K.
Ryan Forbes, Sheldon Rempel (2), Devin Brosseau (2), and Korey Morgan struck for Nanaimo.
Steven Myland started the game for the Warriors, but was pulled after allowing four goals on seven shots.  Andy Desautels replaced Myland early in the second period, and suffers the loss despite allowing only two goals against.

The Warriors now return home for a week of practice before a home-and-home series against Merritt next weekend.
“Right now we’re kind of demoralized a little bit” Masters says.  “But I think this week we’ll have a positive attitude heading into our home opener.”
