Warriors, Cents Wrap Up Pre Season In Merritt

The West Kelowna Warriors look to finish the pre season on a high note as they head to Merritt for their exhibition finale against the Merritt Centennials.

The Warriors and Cents met last night in West Kelowna at Royal LePage Place, a game in which the Centennials got three goals in the first period, including the game’s opening goal coming just 55 seconds into the game. The Warriors came back with two goals in the 2nd period but allowed two in the 3rd to make the final 5-2 in favour of the visitors in a feisty affair at RLP.

The Warriors dressed all seven of their returning players in last night’s contest and you’d expect the same tonight in the final pre season tuneup before next Friday’s home opener against the Trail Smoke Eaters. Matt Vernon started for the Warriors tonight and will look like Shane Farkas will get in between the pipes for the Warriors tonight.

The Centennials played nine of their returning players last night and can expect to see a similar lineup in their final exhibition game. Merritt comes into this game 3-0-1 in the pre season with a win over the Warriors, two wins over the Vernon Vipers and a tie against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. The Centennials got goals last night from Tyler Pietrowski, Chase Bell, Nick Fidanza, Rylan Van Unen and Brett Jewell.

Puck drop for tonight’s game is slated for 7:00 pm with a brief pre game show at 6:55 pm on the Warriors Internet Network with Voice of the Warriors Trevor Miller. This is the final pre season action before the Warriors open the regular season at RLP next Friday with banners being raised before the game against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
