Warriors, Cents Meet For First Time In Exhibition

The West Kelowna Warriors play their final home exhibition game tonight as they host the Merritt Centennials at Royal LePage Place.

The Warriors take a 2-1-1 record into Friday’s contest after a 2-2 tie with the Penticton Vees in West Kelowna on Wednesday. West-K put together a solid 40 minutes, taking a two-goal lead into the third period on goals from Jon Russell and Quin Foreman. The Vees rallied on the strength of two Grant Cruikshank goals, including the tying goal with 1:53 to go on a 5-on-3 power play to give each team their first tie of the exhibition season.

The Warriors dressed many veterans in their lineup and will do the same for their final weekend of pre season action as the date gets closer to the regular season opener of September 9th at Royal LePage Place against the Trail Smoke Eaters.

The Cents come into tonight undefeated in pre season play, tying the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-5 last Wednesday before winning both of their contests against the Vernon Vipers over the course of last Friday and Saturday. The Centennials play just five pre season games, compared to Warriors six as they also have a wrap on exhibition play this weekend before Merritt opens their regular season on the road in Prince George.

Tickets are just $5 for tonight’s game and if you can’t make it down to RLP, the game can be seen live on pay-per-view on FASTHockey.com. The Warriors and Cents will battle once more on Saturday night in Merritt at 7:00 pm as the final exhibition games for both teams.
