Ten games into the BCHL season, the Westside Warriors sit atop the Interior Conference standings and look to have solved their goaltending question, but their head coach still wants more.
?There?s still lots to work on,? Mark Howell said. ?I think we?re getting there, but there are still lots of areas to improve on. I think we?ve got to work better as a group. It?s really important players buy into working together and finding a way to generate things offensively and defensively.?
Coming off a loss to the Penticton Vees last Saturday, the Warriors (6-4) are tied in first place with the Vernon Vipers (5-3-1-1). The defending-champion Vees (5-0-0-1) have four games in hand in third place. Penticton and Westside meet tonight at Royal LePage Place for what is essentially a four-point game with the potential to shake up the standings. Game time is 7 p.m. At least the Warriors have their go-to goalie in place.
?Kevin has played really well,? Howell said of Kevin Jebson. ?I?d like the other two (Devon Murtagh and Garrett Beckwith) to push him a bit more, but Kevin?s definitely stepped up and become our No. 1 goaltender.?
