Vees Too Much for Warriors

Vees Too Much for Warriors

By: Kevin Parnell

The Penticton Vees scored twice in the first five minutes and held on to defeat the Westside Warriors 3-1 on Wednesday night in Penticton.

Brodie Reid gave Penticton a quick 2-0 lead with two straight even strength goals before the five minute mark of the first period.  Westside bounced back from there, pressuring the Vees, but could only get one goal past Vees goalie Jordan White.  Trevor Bailey got the Warriors within one goal, finishing off a nice passing play. Bailey one-timed a centering pass from Vince Mihalek into the top corner for his 12th of the season. That made the score 2-1 after the first period.

Ryan Viselli restored the Vees two goal lead with a second period marker to round out the scoring.

?I thought we played hard but we just didn?t get the bounces tonight,? said Warriors assistant coach James Eccles. ?We hit a post, we missed some opportunities and in the end Penticton ended up winning.?

The loss dropped the Warriors record to 18-12-0-3 while the Vees improve to 18-10-0-4. The two teams meet again next Tuesday in Westside.

The Warriors next game is this Friday night at Royal LePage Place in Westside when they take on the Prince George Spruce Kings. Game time is 7 p.m.  Westside will be looking to get the Kings back after Prince George defeated the Warriors 3-1 last Saturday in Prince George.
