RECAP: WARRIORS FALL TO VIPERS IN GAME ONE

WEST KELOWNA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors fell in game one in the hands of the Vernon Vipers 5-2 Friday night at Royal LePage Place in front of a crowd of 1,048.

Even though the Warriors came out flying in the first period, it was the Vipers that took a 1-0 lead. It wasn’t long before West Kelowna scored to tie the game. Johnny Derrick had made some magnificent saves in the first. Shots in the first were 10-7 in favor of Vernon.

In the second, it was Vernon who took a 2-1 lead. Again, Derrick made some fantastic saves in the second period and kept the Vipers lead just one goal ahead. Elan Bar-Lev-Wise took a massive hit in the second but was okay and stayed in the game. Shots in the second were 12-11 Vernon.

It was all Vipers in the third, as Vernon quickly took a three goal lead. With just over six minutes remaining in the game, Chase Dafoe scored a highlight worthy goal to make the game 4-2. At the final buzzer there was a little scuffle but nothing coming out of it. Cameron MacDonald did score with nine seconds left in the game to make it a 5-2 final to give the Vipers a 1-0 series lead. Shots were 12-8 in favor of the Vipers
