WEST KELOWNA B.C.. – The West Kelowna Warriors pick up their third straight victory, this time against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
1st Period: The Warriors made it known they wanted to be the team that outshoots their opposition in the first period. In the first five minutes of the frame, they made their presence known with Lukas Cullen going hard to the net getting the puck past Ethan Langenegger for a 1-0 lead. The Warriors would then go on the powerplay and have a goal disallowed. The puck was shot from Parm Dhaliwal from the slot which deflected off about 3-4 players and and the Warriors celebrated. After a discussion from the officials they ruled that the puck never crossed the line keeping the game 1-0. Minutes later the Silverbacks would answer with Yewta Plamondon scoring his first BCHL goal to tie the game up at one. Late in the period Mike Hardman showed his skill receiving a Willie Reim pass on a 2 on 1 putting the puck past Ethan Langenegger to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead going into the second frame. Shots on goal after one, 17-6 in favor of the Warriors.
2nd Period: Second period started with a bang for the Warriors with Cavin Tilsley receiving a breakaway pass from Matt Kowalski giving the Warriors a two goal lead. The goal was Cavin Tilsley’s first of the season. The Warriors had numerous opportunities in the second frame to extend their lead, notably during a very lengthy two man advantage where they couldn’t get the puck past Ethan Langenegger. Shots on goal after 2 periods, 26-15 Warriors.
3rd Period: The third period was all Silverbacks. Head Coach Scott Atkinson had his players throw everything at Warriors goaltender Brock Baier who stood tall stopping 20 shots in the third. Late in the game the Warriors penalty kill looked sharp killing a two man advantage of their own with three minutes remaining in the hockey game. Bennett Norlin would finish the game off scoring his 6th of the season into the empty net giving the Warriors the 4-1 victory.

It was a great team effort for the Warriors who played all four lines effectively. Geoff Grimwood specifically has to be pleased with the way his 4th line played. The trio of Eric Olson, Mason Richey, and Brandon Dent ate up minutes in the opposing end all night also drawing some penalties earlier in the first period. Look for these players to make some noise tomorrow night when the Warriors face the Penticton Vees. The Vees have circled this game on their calendar after suffering a tough loss to the Warriors in West Kelowna 3-2. Puck drop at 6pm from the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The Warriors next home game is next Tuesday night versus the Wenatchee Wild. Puck drop at 7pm from Royal LePage Place. Make sure you wear your Halloween costume to the game.
