PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees penalty kill runs wild on the West Kelowna Warriors leading to a 7-1 Vees victory Thursday night.

The Warriors came out strong in game one with John Evans spring loose on a breakaway beating Yaniv Perets to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead. The Vees would answer back with Liam Malmquist collecting a Johnny Derrick rebound to tie it up at one. Late in the period the Warriors would go on a 5 on 3, but it was the Vees who would steal the puck, go on a two on one and Tyler Ho was able to score short handed to give the Vees a 2-1 lead. The Warriors would find a way to tie the game up but the goal would be disallowed after the officials stated the Warriors pushed the pad of Yaniv Perets.

With the Vees holding on to a 2-1 lead to start the second, they would capitalize yet again with Evan McIntyre collecting a Johnny Derrick rebound to make it 3-1 Vees. Then midway through the period the Warriors would go on another power play. During the man advantage the Warriors would cough up the puck giving the Vees another two on one shorthanded leading to Tyler Ho scoring his second of the game making it 4-1. The Vees would add another goal over a minute later with Jay O’Brien capitalizing on a scramble near the Warriors crease extending the Vees lead to 5-1 heading into the third.

Vees started the third period with a 1:54 two man advantage. Just as one of the penalties expired Danny Weight would score to make it 6-1 Vees early. Then the cherry on top for the Vees was Tyler Ho scoring yet another shorthanded goal giving him the hatrick. Ho was named first star in the evening.
