PENTICTON B.C.- The West Kelowna Warriors stellar game still wasn’t enough Friday night with the Penticton coming out on top by a score of 3-2.

Ethan Martini would open for the scoring for the Vees just under four minutes in, burying a rebound right in front of the crease. The Warriors defence would play a strong physical game the rest of the period, keeping the score 1-0 for the Vees after one.

The Warriors brought a better effort for the 2nd period.  Tyson Jugnauth wired a slap shot from the point past Vees net minder Yaniv Perets just before the halfway mark. However, the Vees would jump out infront again just 1:09 later. Tyler Ho would set up a wide open Tristian Amonte who would score to make it a 2-1 hockey game.  In the late stages of the 2nd Elan Bar Lev Wise would pick off a Vees pass and come in all alone and notch his second of the Okanagan Cup, a shorthanded goal. The two teams would end the second frame knotted at 2.

The Warriors would continue their strong play to start the 3rd. They would generate a flurry of chances early on but Perets would stand tall to weather the storm. The Vees then made a push of their own. The result was Matteo Costantini scoring his first. His wrister from the high slot would elude Johnny Derrick on the blocker side. The play would then shift back into the Vees end for the majority of the remaining time. The Warriors would fire 14 shots in the period at Perets, who denied everything he saw in the 3rd frame. The Vees would win 3-2, moving to 3-0-0-0 to start the Okanagan Cup. The Warriors fall to 2-1-0-0 for the tournament. Final shots on net 33-31 in favor of West Kelowna.

The two teams will get right back at it, tomorrow night in West Kelowna. Puck drop is 7pm from Royal LePage Place.
