The Warriors look to rebound after a disappointing game one loss Saturday night to the Wenatchee Wild by a score of 5-4. It was a game where the Warriors were able to score first, but they took their foot off the gas pedal in the second frame allowing the Wild to out shoot the Warriors 18-2 in in the 2nd period alone. In the second the Wild would three goals to make it 3-1. Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Brandon West was short with how his team played in the 2nd frame, “We let them open the game up in the second period, that was the difference”.
Tonight the Warriors look to answer back in game 2. No updates on who will start between the pipes or who will be in or out in the lineup but one thing is for sure, Brandon West is confident his club can respond this evening, “This is a good hockey team, they’ve been a team since day one. Playoffs are about a quick turnaround, we’ve already flipped a page to tonight already, and hopefully we can get some bounces going our way.”
One thing that wasn’t on display Saturday night was the Warriors power play. Ranked number two in the BCHL they only had one opportunity and it came with less than three minutes to go where Mike Hardman was quick to score. The Wenatchee Wild are ranked among the league worst in penalty kill, and the Warriors didn’t have more than one chance to utilize their dangerous man advantage in game one. If the Wenatchee Wild find themselves in the penalty box Sunday night, look for the Warriors to benefit.
Warriors Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Chase Johnston is back on the mic with a pregame show 10 minutes before puck drop. Just a reminder that tickets are available for the first round of the BCHL playoffs at tickets.westkelownawarriors.ca.
