Even though the Warriors lost another exhibition game Friday night, there were a good handful of positives to take out of the evening. It all started with scoring and offense from players like David Vieten and Hayden Gelbard who picked up his first goal as a member of the Warriors. Then it was the Warriors defensive play which was taken up a notch after their performance Wednesday in Penticton. Shots were blocked and cross ice passes were broken up and intercepted. Finally goaltending was the best the Warriors have seen so far in exhibition play and it came from a new name, Johnny Derrick. Derrick stopped 33 of 35 shots on goal Friday night and impressed the crowd in Trail making numerous key stops with traffic in front of him.

Tonight the Warriors are looking to finish the exhibition campaign strong. Their record is 1-4 but 3 of those losses were only one goal games. The Smoke Eaters were also playing the majority of their opening night roster Friday, which gives the Warriors some confidence they will compete for a victory Saturday night.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on both HockeyTV and the Warriors Mixlr Network. Puck drop at 7:00pm from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. Tickets are available at the box office one hour before puck drop and kids under 18 get in free with a paying adult.
