NEWS: Warriors Add Local Talent To Blue Line For 2023/24 Season

WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce that local defenseman Kaiden Schaupmeyer (’05) has committed to the team for the 2023/24 season.

Schaupmeyer, 18, has spent each of the past four seasons in the Okanagan Rockets program at the BC Elite Hockey League (BCEHL) level, varying between U15, U16 and U18. The 6’0”, 165-pound defender played the last two campaigns with the U18 squad, captaining the team this past season while registering 4 goals and 19 assists for 23 points in 29 games played with the Rockets. Schaupmeyer added a pair of goals and assists for four points in six playoff games en route to the Rockets BCEHL Championship run.

The Schaupmeyer name may sound familiar to fans as the Kelowna, BC native suited up in 8 games for the Warriors as an affiliate player last season, earning an assist during his time in West Kelowna.

“It is great to have a local player like Kaiden in the fold for next season,” commented Warriors General Manager and Head Coach Simon Ferguson, “He has familiarity with our organization having been out to play and practice a lot last season and he brings a rugged style of play to our blue line.”
