NEWS: Warriors Add Local Products Malone & Watson For 2024/25 Season

WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitments of local defenseman Aidan Malone (’06) and local forward Maddox Watson (’06) for the 2024/25 season.

“Aidan has been a player who’s been with us for a couple years, he had great edges, a high hockey IQ and we are excited with his potential,” commented Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Simon Ferguson, “Maddox I’ve known from KMHA for a long time. He has great size and an ability to find the net. We are excited to add both players for next season.”

Malone, 17, is in his second season with the Okanagan Hockey Club’s U18 team playing in the Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) where he has registered a goal and four assists for five points in five games so far this season. The Kelowna, BC native leads all blueliners on his club in points and also suited up in an exhibition game this past season with the Warriors.

“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to play for such a great organization lke the Warriors,” commented Malone, “It’s been a dream of mine to play for this team since I first saw them play.”

Watson, 17, is playing in his first season with OHC where he has amassed 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points in just 7 games, leading his team in points and sits 15th in the JPHL in scoring. The Kelowna, BC native has some experience in the BCHL as well, getting into three games with the Trail Smoke Eaters as an affiliate player during the 2022/23 season while playing with the Rink Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) a season ago.

“I’m very excited and honoured to have an opportunity to play for the West Kelowna Warriors and in the BCHL,” stated Watson, “As a Kelowna kid, I’m grateful to have a world class organization in my backyard and can’t wait to get down to work.”

The Warriors will hit the road for the first of five consecutive games away from home as they take on the Vernon Vipers on Friday night at Kal Tire Place. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM from the North Okanagan with the game being streamed live on FloHockey as well as a free audio broadcast of the game at mixlr.com/bchlwarriors. West Kelowna is slated to return home for their next game at Royal LePage Place on Saturday, November 4th against the Cranbrook Bucks.
