The West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce that defenseman Scott Allan (’96) has committed to the University of Concordia Thunder of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for the 2017/18 season.

Allan, 21, spent the majority of the last two seasons with the Warriors, playing in 98 regular season games while compiling seven goals and 32 points along with 165 penalty minutes over that span. The 6’7″, 225 pound rearguard got into 38 playoff games with the Warriors and played an integral part in West Kelowna’s Royal Bank Cup National Championship run in 2016.

Prior to his time with the Warriors, the Thornton, Colorado native spent parts of two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), playing in a total of 93 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers, Seattle Thunderbirds and the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

“Scott was such a big part of our program over the last two years,” commented head coach and general manager Rylan Ferster, “He was such a tough presence on our blueline and with his physical, shutdown style of hockey really played a huge part of our RBC Cup team.”

For Allan, the opportunity to continue to play hockey and get an education at the same time was a no-brainer, “I’m really looking forward to joining a program like Concordia where I can continue to play hockey and go to school at the same time.”

Concordia University is located in Edmonton, Alberta and plays their hockey out of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), which hosts a league of 17 teams. Dan Glegloff is the head coach of the Thunder, who have one former BCHLer on their current roster in the likes of former Trail Smoke Eaters and Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Adam Wheeldon.

The Warriors would like to thank Scott for all of his contributions to the Warriors and the community of West Kelowna over the past two seasons and wish him all the best in his college career!

The Warriors Spring Camp goes this weekend from Friday, April 21st to Sunday, April 23rd at Royal LePage Place with the weekend open to the public. Games start on Friday afternoon with a Top Prospects Game taking place on Sunday evening at 5:00 PM.
