KRAUSE CRUISES TO POW NOD

Westside forward Tyler Krause has earned his first-ever BCHL player of the week selection.

Krause scored Westside’s first goal of the game, and was named the second star in a 5-2 victory over Coquitlam on Friday night.

On Saturday, he tallied 5 points (2 goals and 3 assists) in a 6-2 win over Prince George.  The 20 year-old was named the first star against the Spruce Kings, and his second goal of the game held up as the game winner.

“It feels great” says the Kelowna native of the honour.  “The team had some success this weekend and so did I, so it’s nice to be rewarded.”

The veteran is still in the market for an NCAA scholarship, and admits the extra exposure from a player of the week selection won’t hurt his cause.  “You get to talk to a few schools and see what they think … it’s a nice weekend for them to come out and watch when you can perform like that.”

Overall, Krause now has 18 points (9+9) on the season, and sits in second in team scoring behind only Connor Dempsey.

Westside defenceman Michael King was also an honourable mention for this week’s BCHL award.
