The second half of the BC Hockey League season began the way the first half ended for the West Kelowna Warriors.

A lopsided defeat at the hands of the powerful Penticton Vees.

In the first game back from the Christmas break for both teams, it was the Vees who picked up where they left off, pouring in nine in a 9-2 thrashing of the Warriors before more than 3,500 fans at the south Okanagan Events Centre.

The Nadeau brother again led the way as they have during most of the previous five meetings.

Bradley Nadeau put up a career high six points, a goal and five assists, while brother Josh scored three times and added a pair of assists for a five point night.

They have combined for 39 points in their six wins over the Warriors this season.

Dovar Tinling with a pair, Frank Djurasevic, Brett Moravec and Callum Arnott also scored for the Vees.

Penticton built up a 3-0 lead after one and were up 4-1 midway through the second when Josh Nadeau was awarded a penalty shot with the Vees shorthanded.

He beat Angelo Zol to put and end to any Warrior comeback attempt.

Matt Fusco and Jaiden Moriello on a power play scored for the Warriors.

Zol went the distance, allowing all nine goals on 40 shots.

Luca Di Pasquo faced only 18 shots in the win.

West Kelowna got some good news with the return of defenceman Nolan Hayes to the lineup.

Hayes missed 16 games when he suffered an injury Oct. 29 against Salmon Arm.

The Warriors are off now until next Friday night when they open a three-game homestand against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
