GAME PREVIEW: Warriors Travel East For Clash Against Bucks

The West Kelowna Warriors (29-10-11-0) finish off a weekend in the Kootenays with a potential first round playoff matchup in taking on the Cranbrook Bucks (20-27-3-0) on Saturday night at Western Financial Place.

Looking Back:

West Kelowna makes their way into Saturday’s game following a 3-1 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday night at Cominco Arena. Owen Drury, Sean Keohane and Jack Pridham each found the back of the net while Rorke Applebee turned aside 26 of the 27 shots thrown his way in his 22nd win of the season.

The Bucks come into play on Saturday after a full week off and their last game coming last Saturday night in a 5-2 victory over the Smoke Eaters at Cominco Arena. Patrick Murphy scored a pair of goals in the game while Nic Leggett, Donovan Frias and Jaden Fodchuk found the back of the net with tallies while Carter Capton pushed away 27 of the 29 shots he faced in the game in his 8th win of the season.

  • Jack Pridham – Forward – Stouffville, Ontario – Boston University

The goal scoring streak extended to four games for Pridham with his 2nd period marker which counted for his 22nd goal of the season. The Boston University commit has points in each of his last six games, registering five goals and an assist for six points in that span an dhas found the back of the net in 8 of his last 13 games.

  • Carter Oakenfold – Forward – Calgary, Alberta – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)

Riding a three-game point streak into action on Saturday, Oakenfold is starting to find his game with the Warriors after signing with the team from the Spruce Grove Saints. The Calgary, Alberta native collected his first BCHL goal last Friday in a 4-3 overtime setback to the Penticton Vees and has added two assists as well for three points in his three-game point streak.

Cranbrook:

  • Noah Urness – Forward – Roseau, Minnesota – St. Cloud State University

Starting the season in Cranbrook, Urness elected to return to his hometown of Roseau, Minnesota to finish out his high school while playing with his high school team for the fourth season. The St. Cloud State University commit torched the league, amassing 42 goals and 81 points in just 26 games played. Urness is back with the Bucks and played his first set of games last weekend with the team since late November and put up a goal and three assists for four points in two games.

  • Patrick Murphy – Forward – North Kingstown, Rhode Island – Brown University

Coming to Cranbrook in a mid-season swap from the Victoria Grizzlies, Murphy took a bit of time to get comfortable in his new surroundings, collecting two points in his ifrst 10 games with the Bucks. The last five games has been a different story for the Brown University commit, who has scored 3 goals and added 5 assists for 8 points in that span including a two-goal, three-point effort last Saturday in Trail.

The Warriors and Bucks play the sixth and final game of their six-game season set from Western Financial Place. Puck drop is slated for 6:00 PM PST with the game being broadcasted on the Warriors Broadcast Network at bchlwarriors.mixlr.com as well as streamed online on FloHockey.
