GAME PREVIEW: Warriors Look For Mainland Weekend Sweep Visiting Express In Coquitlam

The West Kelowna Warriors (27-10-7-0) finish up a weekend on the Lower Mainland as they take on the Coquitlam Express (19-20-1-3) on Saturday night in the teams’ lone meeting of the season on Saturday night at the Poirier Sports & Leisure Complex.

Looking Back:

The Warriors are coming off of one of their bigger wins on the season as they knocked off the top ranked team in the BCHL with a 5-3 victory over the Surrey Eagles on Friday night at the South Surrey Arena. Felix Caron, Cal Hughes, Jack Pridham, Owen Drury and Jackson Kyrkostas each found the back of the net while Rorke Applebee turned aside 20 of the 23 shots thrown his way in his 20th win of the season.

Coquitlam makes their way into the game on Saturday following a 3-2 shootout loss to the Chilliwack Chiefs on Friday night at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex. Joseph Odyniec scored a pair of goals in the game while Adam Manji turned aside 38 of the 40 shots thrown his way and one of the three shooters faced in the shootout in his 1st shootout loss of the season.

  • Felix Caron – Forward – Terrebonne, Quebec – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)

Felix Caron was at it again in Surrey as the Terrebonne, Quebec native in Caron blasted his 27th goal of the season to cue the comeback from West Kelowna. The RPI commit has points in four of his last five games with each of those games being multi-point contests as he possesses 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points over that span. Caron now sits 2nd in the BCHL in points with his 55 and is 2nd in the league in goal scoring, one behind Alberni Valley’s Hayden Stavroff.

  • Isaiah Norlin – Defenseman – Minneapolis, Minnesota – Clarkson University

Adding another assist from the back end last night, Norlin has continued to produce at an efficient rate from the blue line this season. The Clarkson University commit, like Caron, has points in four of his last five games as he has registered a goal and six assists for seven points during that time while Norlin leads all defenders in points with 45 this season

Coquitlam:

  • Sam Frandina – Defenseman – Hanover, New Hampshire – St. Lawrence University

The blueliner for the Express is coming off of a two assist performance and a recent stretch that sees him with points in two of his last three games and five total points in that time. The St. Lawrence University commit was also named the 1st Star of the Week in the BCHL last week thanks to his three-point performance.

  • Drew Garzone – Forward – Dover, Massachusetts – University of Connecticut

Leading the Express in scoring in his second season with the team, Garzone has doubled his point totals from last season and enters play on Saturday with a three-game point streak. The Dover, Massachusetts native has three assists in that span and possesses 61 career points in 85 games with the Express.
