FORMER WARRIORS CAPTAIN GETS HIGH HONOURS

Bentley University forward Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) has been named to Inside College Hockey’s Freshman All-America Second Team.

Grieve was also named Atlantic Hockey’s Rookie of the Year and to the AHA All-Rookie team on March 15. He finished his freshman campaign with 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points and was +16. That points total broke the program’s record for most in a season by a freshman at the Division I level, topping Anthony Canzoneri’s mark of 31 in the 2005-06 season.

“It’s an absolute honour to be named to this team in my freshman year,” says Grieve.  “Playing for Bentley and Coach Ryan Soderquest really helped me progress as a hockey player and as a person.  I am looking forward to next year already!”

Grieve finished the season as Atlantic Hockey’s leader in both goals and points among rookies (one ahead of teammate Brett Switzer in both categories), and overall, was fifth in the league in points and tied for eighth in goals.

He was the only Atlantic Hockey player named to either of INCH’s Freshman All-America teams.

This summer Grieve will spend time between West Kelowna and Calgary preparing for next year.
