EAGLES FRUSTRATE WARRIORS IN OPENER

The regular season began with frustration for the Warriors.
Facing the defending champion Surrey Eagles in their opening game of the 2013 BCHL Showcase, the Warriors fired 40 shots at netminder Victor Adamo, but couldn’t find the back of the net in a 3-0 defeat.

Joseph Drapluk, Zane Schartz, and Colton Mackie scored for Surrey, with final shots counting 40-24 in favour of West Kelowna.
“We did a pretty good job of putting pucks to the net” Warriors rookie Connor Bucsis insists, “but in the end it’s the score that counts.”
Bucsis also admits that his team’s struggles on the powerplay contributed to the setback.
The Eagles earned two of their three goals while on the man advantage (2/6) while West Kelowna finished the game at 0/4 on the powerplay.
Still, the Saskatchewan native says his team has plenty of positives to draw on.
Bucsis suggests the West Kelowna rookies, and the team at large, had solid showings in their 2013 debut.   “I think everyone’s going to keep their head up and just ‘give’r’ tomorrow.”

The Warriors will seek their first win of the season when they take on the Nanaimo Clippers on Saturday at 3pm.
West Kelowna will then return to Royal LePage Place for the home opener, set for Sept. 13th.
