Warriors Even it Up

The West Kelowna Warriors evened up the Interior Division Final with a big 3-0 win over the Penticton Vees on Tuesday night at Royal LePage Place as Jonathan Desbiens scored twice and Kylar Hope added insurance.

A scoreless first period was the result of Zachary Driscoll making 17 saves as the Warriors buzzed in the Vees zone, creating their breaks and getting some great opportunities.

It wasn’t until the Warriors got on their first man advantage that the goose-egg was broken. Desbiens got a puck at the side of the goal and lifted it over Driscoll and under the bar for the 1-0 lead.

Desbiens buried his second of the night in the final 30 seconds of the period, getting a rebound off a shin pad and burying it to the delight of the 1500 fans.

The Warriors defended well in the third period until Hope broke down the right wing past Dixon Bowen and finished a wrap-around off of Driscoll’s skate to seal the deal.

There was some rough stuff in the final minute, but no major penalties were given out. West Kelowna finished the game 2/3 on the power play, while the Vees were 0 for 4.

Game 5 now goes Friday in Penticton at 7 PM, while Game 6 will be in West Kelowna Saturday at 7 PM as well. Get your tickets for Game 6 starting at 9 AM tomorrow by visiting the Warriors office or calling 250-769-7051. There were long lines during the game tonight, so get your tickets in advance!
