Marino Commits to Alaska-Fairbanks

The West Kelowna Warriors are pleased to announce that Kyle Marino has committed to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks for the 2016/2017 season.

Marino, from Niagara Falls, Ontario is in his second year with the Warriors, scoring 17 goals and adding 34 assists in 111 games. Marino has 14 goals and 19 assists in 2015/2016.

“I am very excited about this opportunity, not only for hockey but also for my education.” Kyle commented Wednesday, “I’m grateful to the Warriors organization for the opportunity to play for an amazing team and allow this door to be opened. This would not have been possible without years of devotion on the part of my family, coaches, and many great teammates. I’m grateful for prayers that have been answered and am excited about finishing my junior career with the Warriors and about the new path ahead with the Nanooks.”

Head Coach and General Manager Rylan Ferster is excited to have Kyle heading to the NCAA. “Kyle is a great leader for us. He came here as a defenseman and was turned into a quality forward. He constantly improves and is one of the hardest working young men I have had the pleasure to coach.”

Marino will join Kylar Hope, as well as former Warrior Marcus Basara on the Nanooks next season. There are currently seven BCHL alum’s on the roster, with six slated to return in 2016/2017.

The Warriors organization would like to congratulate Kyle Marino and his family on his commitment.
