Warriors Announce 2025–26 Leadership Group
The West Kelowna Warriors are proud to announce the leadership group for the 2025–26 BCHL season. Returning to the role of Captain is veteran forward #29 Liam Nilsson, supported by Assistant Captains #16 Carter Oakenfold, #25 Caden Kemkaren-Humble, #17 Garrett Thom, and #27 Carson Pavlowich.
Head Coach and General Manager Simon Ferguson emphasized that the leadership group reflects not only skill on the ice but also the values and culture the Warriors are building as an organization.
Captain – Liam Nilsson (#29) – Nilsson joins the Warriors leadership group after serving as captain for Luleå HF J20 in Sweden, where he wore the “C” and gained valuable leadership experience. Having been around several pro teams with championship pedigrees, he brings a wealth of experience in understanding what it takes to win. Ferguson noted that Nilsson has been instrumental in driving culture and compete on the ice while continuing to push the pace off the ice, making him a cornerstone of the Warriors’ identity.Assistant Captain – Carter Oakenfold (#16) – Oakenfold has earned his letter by consistently working the right way and competing hard every shift. His drive and relentless effort have set a high standard for his teammates, making him a natural choice for the leadership group.
Assistant Captain – Caden Kemkaren-Humble (#25) – Kemkaren-Humble brings an all-around work ethic both on and off the ice. Ferguson praised how his efforts tie everything together — from his energy in games to the example he sets in the locker room and community.
Assistant Captain – Garrett Thom (#17) – Thom represents the detailed, hard-working approach the Warriors demand. His commitment to doing the little things right and maintaining consistency makes him a strong influence on the team’s younger players.
Assistant Captain – Carson Pavlowich (#27) – On defense, Pavlowich provides stability and leadership from the back end. His presence reinforces the Warriors’ identity as a team built on resilience, structure, and commitment.
Leadership Beyond the Letters
While the official leadership group has been named, Ferguson emphasized that leadership is a responsibility shared across the roster:
“We want every player to step up and be a leader, whether they’re wearing a letter or not. It’s about doing the right things, setting the tone, and pushing each other to be better every day.”
Building the Warriors’ Culture
With Nilsson leading the way and Oakenfold, Kemkaren-Humble, Thom, and Pavlowich supporting him, the Warriors enter the season with a strong foundation of leadership. This group embodies the culture of accountability, hard work, and pride that the organization strives to instill, ensuring the Warriors remain competitive both on and off the ice.
Go Warriors!
