Warriors Stay Hot in Sherwood Park, Win 5-3

Sherwood Park, AB – The Warriors are hot right now.

After dropping a 5-3 decision last Saturday at RLP against the same Sherwood Park Crusaders squad, the Warriors exacted a bit of revenge on Friday, picking up a 5-3 victory of their own on the road at Sherwood Park Arena.

After falling down 2-0 in the first period, the Warriors would storm back with three unanswered goals.  Ian Alonso found a rebound midway through the first.  Kelsen Podworny did the same in the second, and Caden Kemkaran-Humble struck shorthanded to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead in the 2nd.  Early in the third, the Crusaders would answer back, as Jeremy Loranger ripped one over the glove of Bor Glavic to knot the game at 3.

West K would reclaim their lead ten minutes later, as Ben Miller swung behind the net and tried to feed in front for Jack Sadowski, but the pass ended up banking off the skate of Crusaders netminder James Venne and into the back of the net.  Miller’s third period marker, his first in the BCHL, would go on to stand as the winner.  Sam LeDrew added an empty netter in the final minute to seal the victory for the Warriors.

West Kelowna finishes their weekend trip to Alberta on Saturday night, as they’ll be at Grant Fuhr Arena to battle the Saints for the 4th and final time this season.  Puckdrop is scheduled for 6:00PM PST.
