Friday night in Cranbrook was not a great night for the West Kelowna Warriors.
From the opening puck drop, it seemed like the Cranbrook Bucks were ready to play, and the Warriors were not. The Bucks opened the scoring halfway through the opening frame, and never looked back, cruising to a commanding 9-0 victory over West K on Opening Night ’24.
The Warriors also struggled with special teams, going 0/3 on the powerplay, while surrendering a shorthanded goal on one opportunity. Meanwhile, the Bucks went 4/5 on the Powerplay, scoring three with the man advantage in the third alone. The Bucks also outshot the Warriors 45-21 in the game. Between the pipes, Dawson Labre stopped 19/24 shots, while Zack Ferris stopped 17/21 in relief.
Following the loss, West Kelowna turns their attention to Trail on Saturday night, as they’re at Cominco Arena for a date with the Smokies.
