West Kelowna, BC – Simply put, the Warriors are currently playing their best hockey of the season.
Saturday night at Royal LePage Place was another very strong offensive performance for the West Kelowna Warriors, as they took down the Blackfalds Bulldogs with a decisive 6-1 victory.
The party started a little over two minutes into the first period of play, as Joey Macrina fed a nice pass to Elias Callgren in the slot, who pumped a low shot through the five hole of Bulldogs netminder Kirill Kapustin to open the scoring for the Warriors. Exactly 20 minutes later, the Warriors would double their lead, as Jackson Kyrkostas drew a defender to him in the corner, leaving Sam LeDrew all alone in front of the next to capitalize for his 20th of the campaign to make it 2-0 at 2:09 of the second. About five minutes later, the Warriors would strike again, as Elias Callgren scored his second of the night, tipping in a Simon Houge point shot for his second of the game to make it 3-0. A few minutes later, it would be West Kelowna’s other resident Swede to find the back of the net, as Axel Lofgren took advantage of a Blackfalds turnover and hammered a slapshot past Kapustin for his 10th of the season, and first since returning from an injury that sidelined him for six weeks.
Goal scoring has been coming easily over the past two games for the Warriors, but they specifically seem to be falling from the sky for Tyler Grahme. The Bloomington, Minnesota native scored West K’s final two goals of the hockey game. With the pair, Grahme has now tallied five over his last two games.
After the 6-1 win over the Bulldogs at Royal LePage Place on Saturday night, the Warriors now improve to 7-4 in 2025. They look to keep the good times rolling on Monday afternoon, as they’re at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton for a Family Day clash with the Vees. Puckdrop is scheduled for 2PM in Penticton, and you can catch the call with Joey Pitt on BCHLTV & AM1150.
